Client & Carer Information

OVERVIEW

Clients and carers are welcome to register at the clubhouse from 9am to 11:15am Tuesdays and Fridays without pre-booking.

And remember to check Facebook or call 0488578466 on the morning of sailing in case we have cancelled due to weather or other reasons.

DETAILS

We sail every from 9:00am to 12:00pm every Tuesday and Friday except during Christmas School Holidays. We accept registrations from 8:45 but recommend that if you are coming later in the morning you register by 11:15.

We do not sail on Melbourne Cup Day, Sunshine Coast (Nambour) Show Day or any other public holiday. We cease all sailing at the start of the December School Holidays, resuming around the first week of term in the New Year.

At about 6:30am on sailing days a phone message is put on 0488 578466 indicating whether or not we are operating, as there are a few weather conditions that preclude us from operating.  This is also posted to our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/SailabilitySunshineCoast/

We have equipment limitations and cannot manage clients over 120Kg.

We do have a hoist on the pontoon so if a client is in a wheelchair or otherwise restricted we can lift them in and out of either the sailing dinghies or the power boat – we have a range of sling sizes available.

We provide lifejackets. Clients need to to have their jacket fitted and properly secured before the going onto the pontoon.  Our volunteers can assist with this if necessary.

Costs is $10 for about 30 minutes on the water, maybe a bit less if we are busy.

On arrival check in and pay (cash or card) at the shed. Let them know if you are new and our volunteers will direct you what to do.  We do not pre-book times, we take clients in the order they are signed on at the shed.

We are located at the western end of the Mooloolaba Marina, 33 Parkyn Parade (about 100 metres west of the Pier 33 restaurant) at the Mooloolaba Spit, see this Google Maps link .

Once you arrive in the car park you can park in front of the marina offices, or if your clients are less mobile go right to the end of the car park and you will see a narrow bitumen lane with our sign adjacent, you can drive down to the shed but parking can be very tight.

We look forward to seeing you on the pontoon!
